Hacking my Standing Desk

Hacking my Standing Desk

Hi everyone! I have a goal to add an ESP32 into my standing desk to automate the up/down functionality. I want to have smart logic around when the desk goes up and goes down based on certain conditions like date/time and possibly activity on my computer.

I started taking apart the desk and opened up the components. From what I can tell the board doesn't have any switches or buttons but has springs that simulate touch to trigger the actions. The desk itself has up, down, and 4 preset heights which are the 6 springs. My goal is to have the ESP32 trigger 2 of the presets I have configured already (a standing height, and a sitting height).

If these springs were actual buttons I think I cold hook up my ESP32 to a transistor and use that to simulate a button press, but looking at the board with the spring setup, I can't figure out what's going on.

Does anyone have any ideas on what's going on with these springs and how I could make this setup work?

Thanks!

Which Android board to create a real product ?

Hello everyone, I would like to create a GPS on Android.

I've been looking for development boards that can run Android but they are all too big and therefore not suitable for mobile use.

Ideally, I would like to find a card that looks like the OrangePi 2-Iot but can run Android.

The standard development boards are not suitable for production, so I looked for motherboards that already include the main components of a smartphone (SoC, Wifi/Bluetooth/3G/4G antenna, ram...). I have only found 2 suppliers:

Kiteboard: https://www.kiteboard.io/

Fairphone: https://www.fairphone.com/ (the core module can be bought)

The problem is that the motherboard components supplied by these manufacturers are not very recent. Do you know of any other manufacturers who produce Android boards for production, or if not, manufacturers who produce "complete" smartphone motherboards ?

Thanks and have a nice day :)
