Interpret factors affecting delivery

Introduction

Most health care practitioners fail to give quality satisfactory delivery services because they face various obstacle and challenge. The success of the delivery services in the health care depending on various factors. These factors are evaluated carefully and implemented in order to achieve good healthcare performance. The delivery systems determine the success of the health care performance to the satisfaction of the individuals and the community. Most of the healthcare have difficulties in achieving best performance because of various factors.  These complexities always slow down the progress and success of the health care delivery services. However, most health centers try to get the strategies that help solve the complex situations. This paper investigates the failure of success in the health care services based on the private and public centers.

RESEARCH METHOD

Qualitative and quantitative

The research was scheduled and performed in various medical centers in New York to exploring the factors that hinder successful delivery. In the first stage involved the qualitative design method where there were interviews of the participants. The results were recorded and used in the questionnaires in the second study that involved quantitative research approach. The study involved stakeholders, managers, medical practitioners, and patients. Sampling of the participants was random, and there were 493 participants

Procedures

There was questionnaires distribution to the participants and the questions involved the listing of the factors that hinder health care delivery services. The groups were dividing into two from the earlier study that involved qualitative research.  There were 59% to 72 % of respondents based on their stakeholders. The first finding was s used to examine the results from the questionnaires.

Findings

The results were not different based on the private or public sector; however, there was a slight difference between the job satisfactions from both sectors.  The results demonstrate the following factors Job satisfaction, poor management, organizational instability, and poor working condition, lack of infrastructure. Moreover, there was inadequate equipments, and resistance to changes, age, and lack of motivation among others. Most of the respondents talked about lack of incentive and motivation, other complained about poor working conditions (Omachonu & Shatlock, 2012).

Discussion

From the findings there following were some of the themes obtained from the results lack of job satisfaction, poor management, and organizational stability. In addition, poor working condition, lack of infrastructure, resistance to changes, and lack of motivation among others (Omachonu & Shatlock, 2012).

Job satisfaction

Job satisfaction is one of the themes that affect most medical practitioners; results show that there was no significant relationship between life and job the joy to the service delivery. Most of the participants complained that they were not satisfied with the job since they feel overwhelmed with complex responsibilities and majority of them thought of quitting their medical profession.

Others state that significant effect of the views of life satisfaction of the health professionals. Most of the mental health practitioners are working highly based on their professional ideal. This lack of job satisfaction was directly related to the delivery services. The implication is that the majority of those whose life and job satisfaction was not enough they do not enjoy working and taking the work as their own; circumstance hence poor delivery rather forces them (Razan et al., 2012)..

Poor management

The other factor that hinders successful delivery in the medical industry is the poor administration of the hospitals. For instance, most of the top managers especially from the public sector do not care about good management, and they do not go down to supervise the junior managers. Therefore, most of the medical practitioners are relaxed and sluggish as they do their work he way they feel like.

Organizational instability

The stability of most organizations is fragile especially the private sectors that are still new that makes the practitioners lack the moral to perfume because they don jot have job security. Moreover, some organizations do not pay well to their workers always therefore they start working just to pass a time and not delivery from their hearts (Razan et al., 2012).

Type practice and working conditions

Type training and working conditions of any job matters, for instance, a place where there are poor working conditions where the workers are treatment without caring. Most of the healthcare practitioners complain of poor hospital working conditions especially at the public centers. There are unhealthy conditions that the nurses have to handle such as treating the patient’s wounds, lack of hygiene, crowded patients and few types of equipment. In addition, the results indicated that the type of practice and working conditions affected burnout rates hence the prediction of lack of job life satisfaction (Omachonu & Shatlock, 2012).

Lack of infrastructure

Infrastructure consists of the means of transport and communication where most of the hospitals places are in the  interior locations. Therefore, they find it hard to get work on time, at the same time; there is a communication barrier where they cannot easily reach the healthcare centers. In addition, the patients are not easy to arrive at the place of medication, and there are no mobile services. Therefore, the delivery services become even worse as they cannot even refer the patients since there are no good roads for using an ambulance. Moreover, the distance barriers especially in the marginalized areas where they cannot get medical doctors easily as most of them fail or leave jobs (Razan et al., 2012).

Lack of enough staff

Medical centers faced challenges of medical staff, lack of adequate staff results in poor results. For instance, when there are more patients but one doctor or nurse attends to them, it becomes hard for such professional to deliver efficiently. For example, most of them loose patience. Secondly, they cannot attend to all patients in the required time. Research indicates that the ratio of patients to doctors is 3 to 1. Majority of the nurses have left jobs because of various reasons such as lacks of motivation, inadequate payment, burnout rates, and fatigue, among others (Razan et al., 2012).

Lack of motivation

    Incentives are part of motivation that most employees know but ignore. For instance, most of the nurses lack morale to work overtime because they will not receive anything so in case of even an emergency they are always reluctant. Moreover, good performance is always rewarded. Therefore, most managers to do not consider that motivation improve the performance of the employees whether in private or public health sectors. Those hospitals, for instance, that have the proper payment for their worker, incentives, promotions, and even over time have excellent delivery services, and that is common in the private sectors (Mitchell et al., 2012).

Inadequate equipments

    Most of the health cares lack enough medical equipment; therefore, they end up not performing their services adequately and efficiently. For instance, some hospitals do not have enough accommodation facilities for the inpatients; therefore, most of them are crowded, and they stay on the corridors, or squeezing in a single room. Moreover, others are discharged earlier to allow for new admissions even before they finish medication and supervision hours from the doctors. In addition, some hospitals lack enough laboratory equipments that hinder them from providing adequate laboratory services (Gurau & Benkraiem, 2012).

Resistance to changes

Resistance to changes is another hindrance to successful delivery in the healthcare industry. For instance, most of the managers are still stuck in a traditional type of services where they do not want to include technology and innovations in the systems. Moreover, the workers are not given current training to enhance their professional skill and knowledge since everything is changing in every industry, therefore, all workers need more training. Moreover, the type of diseases has also advanced based on the globalization and modernization where people’s way of life and diet has significantly changed introducing new issues that affect the health in different ways to manage that, they need to advance in their knowledge (Al-Busaidi et al., 2012).  

Significance of the study

The reason for the current study is to provide recommendations for the future implementation in the health sector in order to improve delivery and performance, and the following were some of the recommendations.

Conclusion

From the research there following were some of the themes obtained from the results. They include,  lack of job satisfaction, poor management,  organizational stability, and poor working condition, lack of infrastructure, resistance to changes,  and lack of motivation among others. In addition, in both groups that is from the private and public health sectors named lack of motivation and incentives as one of the factors that hinder their performance. The other most ranked factor was a lack of proper payment, which makes most of them to leave jobs.

Recommendations

The empirical findings stated some of the above-named themes; therefore, it is recommended that the health care should make changes that can improve health delivery services. For example, the working conditions should be enhanced; there should be enough infrastructures based on communication and more roads to be build especially in the rural places where delivery services can easily b accessed. In addition, it is significant for the government to employ more practices and develop more health care centers so that they can avoid overcrowding in one health center. Moreover, the minimum wage for both private and public health sectors should be improved so that it provides job and life satisfaction to the healthcare professionals (Phillips & Shipps, 2012).
