Quality is an essential concern in education, business, and government today. In education, quality ensures that the system produces competent professionals and scholars and effective leaders. However, the quality of education today has depreciated due to various challenges facing the education system around the globe. A majority of the students leaving or graduation from high school or college today are unprepared and unable to meet the demands of the modern society. The lack of experience or the lack of hands-on experience on graduates is also a great challenge to the education system since the graduates cannot assist in delivering the set goals of organizations. Education professionals today cannot or are unable to deal with the system failures that hinder the formulation and development of new strategies in the education system that lead to improved quality of education. Also, the schools today get managed by incompetent tutors and lecturers. The teachers, lecturers, administrators, school board members and other staff lack efficient skills on how to model students into productive citizens. It is crucial for all employees in an education institution to focus on enhancing various qualities in students that include teamwork, innovation, leadership, cooperation, accountability, and recognition. The lack of adequate resources in education institutions also hinders the delivery of quality education in a hospital. Societal concerns that include peer-pressure, overpopulation, bullying, etc. also hinder the delivery of quality education.

Education is knowledge; that is a student knowing what to make of what we see and not the thoughtless accumulation of knowledge. Montaigne states that “the most difficult and important problem confronting human knowledge seems to be the right rearing and education of children” (De Montaigne, 53). Montaigne suggests that strategies should be set to enhance the skill of students in schools. Montaigne compares child’s growth and education with agriculture operations that before the season of planting and planting itself, operations are easy and certain. However, immediately the plant takes life, numerous ways of cultivation and difficulties arise. Similarly a human being requires little skill to be born; however, these changes when training and bringing them up commences as demands of all kinds arise that involve fear and tribulation. Unlike the young ones of bears and dogs that display their natural disposition, children fall immediately under the sway of opinion, custom and law, thus easily change or assume disposition. It is so difficult to overcome natural bent and thus when they choose the wrong course; all their efforts are in vain and speech much of their lives training children to follow courses and training that they cannot establish themselves. Montaigne recommends that since child education and training is difficult, the process should be directed towards what is best and what is profitable.

The function of a child’s tutor involves numerous other essential duties. It is, therefore, necessary that the choice of tutor be a man of good morals and understanding on top of book-learning excellence and should know their functions. The best tutor is a well-informed person rather than a well-filled intellect. The training process should be conducted in a manner that the child repeats what they are taught by their tutors as this is an exercise in a child’s mind. The teacher should not describe everything to pupils but should let them taste things, choose them and differentiate them using their powers of perception. However, the process also gets faced with another challenge. Montaigne also puts it that “The authority of those who teach is a hindrance to those who wish to learn.”

Another crucial element in child’s education is trust. “Our minds never work except on trust” De Montaigne (55) since they get bound and controlled by the intensity in which they want teaching ideas, get enslaved and captivated by the authority of the teaching. Human beings have got subjected to leading strings that the result in the loss of all freedom of movement. The teacher should ensure that the student sifts all the teachings and should not take anything to their head basing solely on authority or trust.

Human society has an excellent adaption to travel in foreign nations. It gets widely accepted that it is wrong to rear a child on their parent’s laps since due to natural affection they become too soft and tender even the wisest of them. Parents do not allow their children to be punished for their mistakes or get brought up roughly and carelessly, yet that is how they should be reared. The parent’s presence limits the tutor’s authority.

It is essential that a child not only hardens their mind but also should have tough muscles. The mind of a child suffers great strain when not backed up since it undertakes two roles. When teaching, a child, relevant examples should be chosen for all the mist profitable teachings of philosophy. These human actions get referred to as standard. The teachings include “what it is to know and not to know, the purpose of the study, what is courage, temperance, and justice, the difference between ambition and greed, the allowed extent of fear, death, suffering and shame, etc. These must be the first ideas that a child is taught and absorbed by the mind as they regulate behavior and morals, and teach them to know themselves and to know how to live well and die well.
