I am pretty new to IoT, I have a device network, a gateway, and a backend system that connects to the gateway over REST. The device network is a series of room volume sensors spread out over an office building. The backend system is off-site. If i have several device networks and I want to ingest the data streamed to the backend, what is a common tech stack? I am looking at time series databases like influxDB and prometheus coupled with dashboard solutions, but I am unsure where/when/if a message broker fits into the picture like Kafka. I am looking for some decent diagrams or review papers that outline systems like this, I'm sure they are out there, but I just don't know where to look. Googling just gives me very generic diagrams on IOT that aren't relevant.
What are good examples of high level architectures for an IOT ingesting backend?
